A simple model for arbitrary pollution effects on rotating free-surface flows

چکیده
In an experimental context, the contamination of air–liquid interface by ambient pollutants can strongly affect dynamics and stability a given flow. some configurations, interfacial flow even be blocked surface tension effects. A cylindrical free-surface driven slow rotating disc is considered here as generic example such effects investigated both experimentally numerically. We suggest simple numerical model, without any superficial transport pollutants, adaptable into code for single-phase flows. For stationary axisymmetric base flow, radial velocity at set to zero whereas usual stress-free boundary conditions are retained perturbations. The model does not feature free parameter. geometrical aspect ratio 1/4, known display ambiguous behaviour regarding thresholds, modal selection well nonlinear island found in experiments reproduced qualitatively quantitatively. robustness has also been validated replacing profile more accurate fit, with very little influence on results.

Incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations on free surface flows
The water wave generation by wave paddle and a freely falling rigid body are examined by using an Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH). In the current ISPH method, the pressure was evaluated by solving pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection scheme and the source term of pressure Poisson equation contains both of divergence free ve...
متن کاملA Multiphysics Strategy for Free Surface Flows
This work is the first step towards a multiphysics strategy for freesurface flows simulation. In particular, we present a strategy to couple one and two-dimensional hydrostatic free surface flow models. We aim to reduce the computational cost required by a full 2D model. After introducing the two models along with suitable a priori error estimates, we discuss the choice of convenient matching c...

متن کاملmultigrid method to solve free surface flows
in recent years, many different methods have been developed to simulate free surface flows coupled with moving bodies. in this paper, for simulating ship maneuver, vof method (cicsam) and also for coupling velocity field and pressure a fractional step method are used. to increase simulation accuracy, the mesh size should be significantly fine. unfortunately, fine grid causes increase in simulat...
متن کاملAdaptive Modeling for Free - Surface Flows ∗
This work represents a first step towards the simulation of the motion of water in a complex hydrodynamic configuration, such as a channel network or a river delta, by means of a suitable “combination” of different mathematical models. In this framework a wide spectrum of space and time scales is involved due to the presence of physical phenomena of different nature. Ideally, moving from a hier...
